Restrictions For Alberta Class 5 Basic GDL
Licence Holders
After you have passed your class 5 basic GDL road test and have been
issued a class 5 GDL operator's card, you have earned even more
driving
privileges than when you had a class 7 Alberta Learners' Licence.
These privileges include driving by yourself without the supervision
of
a class 5 Advanced (GDL Exit) licensed driver who is over the age of
18
(who also has no restrictions) in the passenger seat while driving.
Although you have earned more privileges to drive, you must obey
and
comply with the following restrictions for a class 5 basic GDL
licence holder:
- Must have 0% alcohol levels when driving at all times
- You cannot drive with more people than there are seat
belts
in your vehicle
- You are allowed 8 demerit points before receiving a
suspension of your licence
- You cannot upgrade to a professional class licence ex.
Class
1 | 2 | 3 | 4
During your next 2 years as a probationary driver, your focus should
be
on advancing your driving skills. Advancement in driving skills will
prepare you for your last road test.
The Class 5 Advanced non GDL road test is the last road test before
you
can obtain a class 5 licence with no restrictions.
Good Luck!
